What is usually not included: rebuilding what was removed, repairing the water source, and independent third-party clearance testing. Ask about all three before signing.
Sometimes — and the deciding factor is usually the cause, not the mold itself. Most Florida policies cover mold when it results from a sudden and accidental covered event, such as a burst pipe. Long-term seepage, deferred maintenance and flooding are typically excluded, and many policies cap mold coverage regardless of cause.

They answer different questions, and most homeowners only need the first.
A free mold inspection tells you whether there is a problem, roughly where it is, and what remediation would involve. That is enough to make a decision in the majority of cases.
Paid laboratory testing tells you the species and spore count. It is worth paying for when there is a health complaint involved, a dispute with an insurer or a landlord, or a real estate transaction on the line. If you are simply deciding whether to fix visible mold, testing rarely changes the answer.
Is a cheaper quote always a worse job?
Not necessarily — but compare scopes side by side, not just totals. A lower price often means less material removal or no containment, which changes what you are actually buying.
How long does the work take?
Most residential jobs run one to three days. Attics and structural work take longer, and drying time before treatment is not optional.
Can I remove mold myself?
Under about 10 square feet on a hard, non-porous surface, often yes. Beyond that, or anywhere HVAC is involved, the risk of spreading spores through the home outweighs the savings.
Will it come back?
